GIMLI, MB – IroSteel, a Manitoba manufacturer of metal roofing and siding products, recently lent a hand to Motion Performance Raceway in Gimli by building the racetrack a new ticket shack.
The compact new building gives raceway staff a more convenient place to hand race slips to drivers, eliminating a substantial amount of walking back and forth during race days.
“Want to give a big thanks to Jon from IroSteel for making us a new ticket shack,” Motion Performance Raceway wrote in a social media post showcasing the finished building. “Will save our staff 19,000 steps a day.”
The project comes during an important first season for Motion Performance Raceway, which began operating the drag strip at Gimli Motorsports Park under new ownership in 2026. The revitalized raceway held its grand opening in August and has joined the National Hot Rod Association’s Member Track Network as part of its West Central Division.
For IroSteel, the ticket shack was an opportunity to support another Manitoba business working to improve a facility that has long been part of the province’s motorsports community.
“MPR is putting a lot of work into making the track better for racers, staff, and fans, and we’re happy to help out where we can,” said Jon Peters of IroSteel. “The ticket shack is a pretty simple addition, but if it saves the team thousands of steps on a race day and makes things run a little smoother, that’s a win for us.”
The raceway’s new ownership has spent its first season making upgrades around the track and improving the experience for racers, staff, and spectators.
Motion Performance Raceway operates the drag strip at Gimli Motorsports Park, where racers compete on the facility’s quarter-mile drag strip. The Gimli Motorsports Park is also used by several other Manitoba motorsports organizations.
IroSteel is a locally owned Manitoba company based in Winkler. The company manufactures steel roofing, siding, flashing, trim, and other custom products for residential, commercial, and agricultural projects, using North American-produced steel and manufacturing its finished products in Manitoba.
